Crawl Space Spray Foam Insulation in San Antonio

Crawl spaces are often out of sight and out of mind—but they play a big role in your home’s comfort, energy efficiency, and even air quality. At Geo-Insulation, we provide professional crawl space spray foam insulation services for homeowners across San Antonio. If your floors are cold in the winter or you’re seeing signs of moisture or musty odors, it could be time to take a closer look at your crawl space.

Let’s explore how spray foam insulation in your crawl space can protect your home and lower your energy bills year-round.

Why Insulate Your Crawl Space?

Crawl spaces are found beneath many homes in San Antonio, especially older ones. These areas are exposed to outdoor temperatures, humidity, and pests. Without proper insulation, crawl spaces can cause:

  • Cold or uneven floors inside the home
  • High heating and cooling bills
  • Moisture problems that lead to mold or mildew
  • Poor air quality from outside air or musty odors
  • Entry points for insects and rodents

Insulating your crawl space helps solve these problems and provides a more stable environment underneath your home.

Benefits of Crawl Space Spray Foam Insulation

Spray foam insulation is one of the best choices for crawl spaces because of its ability to seal air leaks and block moisture. Here’s why it stands out:

1. Air Sealing and Energy Savings

Spray foam expands to fill every crack and gap, preventing outside air from leaking in. This helps your home stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, reducing how hard your HVAC system has to work. That means lower energy bills and a more comfortable home.

2. Moisture Control

Moisture Control
San Antonio is no stranger to humidity. When moisture builds up in crawl spaces, it can lead to mold growth and wood rot. Spray foam acts as both an insulator and a moisture barrier, keeping your crawl space dry and reducing the risk of water damage.

3. Improved Indoor Air Quality

Air from your crawl space can rise into your living areas. If that air is full of dust, mold spores, or allergens, it can affect your family’s health. Spray foam helps seal off your crawl space, reducing the movement of polluted air into your home.

4. Pest Deterrent

Rodents and bugs often enter homes through open crawl spaces. Spray foam seals small entry points and makes it harder for pests to find a place to nest.

5. Long-Lasting Performance

Unlike fiberglass, spray foam doesn’t sag, settle, or lose its shape over time. Once installed, it stays in place and keeps working for years.

Should You Insulate an Open or Encapsulated Crawl Space?

Crawl spaces come in two main styles: open (vented) or encapsulated (sealed). Spray foam works well in both situations, but the approach may be different:

  • For vented crawl spaces, spray foam is usually applied to the underside of the floor above, helping keep floors warmer and reducing air leaks.
  • For sealed or encapsulated crawl spaces, spray foam is applied to the walls and rim joists to create a full thermal and moisture barrier.

Our team will inspect your crawl space and provide the best solution based on its current condition and your goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Geo-Insulation is available to help with any questions regarding your fiberglass insulation needs. Below, Geo-Insulation has detailed answers to your most asked fiberglass questions:

Most projects will take less than 3 hours to complete.

Loose Fill Fiberglass usually lasts about 30 years. I recommend homeowners check the outside of their residence monthly/quarterly to ensure no wildlife has made access holes.  Wildlife can damage insulation quickly with droppings and urine.

There is no reason to leave the residence during a loose fill fiberglass insulation.  The installation process is very clean, quiet, and there is no smell.

We use Johns Manville Loose Fill Fiberglass which is Formaldehyde-free™ blow-in, loose-fill fiberglass insulation which offers thermal and sound control along with fire resistance.

Absolutely. Geo-Insulation will bring the CPS Energy Rebate Application to the jobsite.  The application will need the homeowner’s CPS Energy Account Number and a signature. Geo-Insulation takes the before/after pictures. Geo-Insulation, as a courtesy, will forward the CPS Energy Rebate Application and supporting documentation to CPS Energy on behalf of the homeowner. The homeowner can expect a check between 2-4 months.
